June 18th: Plant Your Own Herb Garden - Cultivating Mental Clarity & Relaxation

Fresh garden herbs make a wonderful addition to your culinary and medicinal repertoire. Join Dr. Eryn Scott, ND and Della Elich at Alpine Gardens in Silverthorne as we explore a handful of medicinal & culinary botanicals to support mental clarity and relaxation.

Location: Alpine gardens in silverthorne

*Includes 3 potted herbs, botanical inspired drinks & snacks, recipes and an introduction to herbal remedies to support the nervous system.

June 29th: Herb Walk - Crafting Medicinal Tinctures to Support the Gut-Brain Connection

Join the naturopathic doctors of Mountain River Naturopathic Clinic as we explore the role of wild medicinals in supporting the gut-brain connection. Participants will gain insight into the identification & medicinal uses of backcountry herbs in addition to seasonal & ethical wild-harvesting practices. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to create medicinal tinctures, oil infusions and teas on the trail. 

What to bring: 

  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)

  • Note-taking materials

  • Layers of clothing & rain gear (weather dependent)

  • Hiking boots or sturdy sandals

  • Water & snacks

  • Rocky Mountain plant identification books (optional)

July 6th: Backcountry First Aid - Identifying & Preparing Herbal Remedies on the Trail

Join the Naturopathic Doctors from Mountain River Naturopathic Clinic on a local herb walk as we delve into mountain botanicals and their use in treating minor injuries including cuts, scrapes, bruises and burns. Attendees will gain insight into the identification & medicinal uses of backcountry first aid herbs in addition to seasonal & ethical wild-harvesting practices. 

What to bring: 

  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)

  • Note-taking materials

  • Layers of clothing (weather dependent)

  • Hiking boots or sturdy sandals

  • Water & snacks

  • Rocky Mountain plant identification books (optional)

July 30th: Backcountry First Aid - Creating Herbal Remedies at Home

In search of natural first aid alternatives to relieve those summertime cuts, scrapes, bruises and burns? Add to your medicine cabinet by learning how to craft natural first aid remedies in the kitchen at home. In this workshop, Della Elich and Dr. Eryn Scott, ND will introduce and guide participants in creating a variety of first aid remedies including an all-natural bug spray, wound-healing salve, an herbal hydrosol to soothe burns in addition to an infused oil or tincture to alleviate bruises.

August 13th: Summertime Injuries - Herbal Solutions to Speed Recovery Time

Is your body feeling a bit ragged after a fantastic summer of high country playtime? Our summertime injuries workshop will introduce botanical remedies for hard to heal tendons, ligaments, sore muscles, and bones that just couldn’t keep it together. Attendees will learn various applications for musculoskeletal injuries including salves, liniments, infusions and tinctures.

August 24th: Herb Walk - Regional Anti-inflammatories & Pain Relievers

Do you feel like your ibuprofen intake is a bit excessive, but unsure of tother ways to keep you out on the trails and rivers? Join us on a walk through the woods as we explore local botanicals that ease pain and speed up recovery time. We'll be on the lookout for herbs that encourage blood flow to torn ligaments, modulate inflammation and keep the pain down so you can get a good night sleep to speed recovery.
